Gender Reveal were once the rage and it continues today with the age old Baby Showers.
To have a gender reveal or baby shower is not a necessity but an optional idea. Gender reveal is a celebration with people who are friends and family to share the reveal of a gender. It expands on the excitement further from an ultrasound room. Baby showers are also a celebration of people bringing gifts to shower the love of the child and honor the parents.
Beauty and the Beast Gender Reveal
When we found out we were pregnant, we were over the moon! We kept the gender a secret from everyone including ourselves for 5 months until we found out at the gender reveal.
My partner’s best friend Aubrey threw the gender reveal party together and it was a wonderful time! We wanted the theme of Beauty and the Beast for the gender reveal because we always joked that I am the Beauty and he is the Beast. My favorite flower is a rose.
The cake for the gender reveal had guava filling with vanilla cake and icing. The yellow would represent a girl and the blue for a boy. We had guests dress up in what they thought the baby would be; yellow or blue.

Aubrey made this box and there were balloons inside. I wore a red dress to represent the red rose so I would not have to pick girl or boy as long it was healthy, but in my heart I was secretly hoping for a boy to be the first child so he can be a brother for the next one. When we opened the box and it is BLUE, we were overjoyed! If you would like to see the video, click here.
Adventure Baby Shower
My partner and I wanted to have a baby shower on our back porch and we picked the theme of “Adventure” because it was going to be a brand new journey for us to become new parents of our first son!

Choosing a cake was the hard part but decided on a simple vanilla cake with yummy guava filling. We decorated it with fake moss and a cute airplane.

We made the in flight snacks sign with brown papers and white cut out papers to glue on with glue gun. Once the glue dried, there were two small holes in the top two corners of the brown papers to attach with a string. There are two suitcases below the table that is made with gift wrapper and black electrical tape to look like mail packages.

The main meal was cooking while the appetizers were given out. My mother made the fish looking pate dip which is to be served with crackers or bread. The meals that were provided were the BBQ ribs from my partner and championship blue ribbon beans from my partner’s father DaDa. DaDa won the beans at Houston rodeo cook off.

The burp cloths are handmade by a Brazilian artist. Unfortunately, she does not have a link that I can share, but this is one of my favorite gifts I got from the baby shower. There was a game to place your bets on whoever had the right baby due date or the closest to win all of the money. There was also another game to play beer bottles where participants drink beer out of baby bottles and whoever finish it first won a gift card to a restaurant.

The baby clothes used to be my partner’s when he was little. I’m grateful that these items will be passed on. So precious, right?! And the baby books, if you’ve read the baby books, you know they are so sentimental and sweet.
We ordered sugar cookies from Sweet Dreams and they are delicious! We do recommend ordering the cookies from her. They were also super cute luggages, world maps, and name tags! Perfect to match the baby shower theme!

Piles of packages… Wanderlust runs deeply in our blood because we always yearn to travel, to learn new culture, and enrich them in our lives. We cannot wait for our child to explore the world with us. So much to see, smell, and touch.

There was a frame that says “luggage drop off” to show guests where to drop off the gifts. This is also where you will open your gifts in front of everyone and thank them. Make sure to have someone next to you to jot notes down on who gave what. This is crucial so you know who to send thank you cards to.

It is Brazilian culture to have brigadeiros at the birthday party which is sweets, almost like truffles. It was made with condensed milk and butter. Flavors such as cocoa powder, peanut butter, cocon. Even though we live in America, we still bring the tradition here to pass on. Very delicious too so you can’t go wrong with it!

At last but not least you should give something to the guests to write on to remember. We had 2 papers and a book for them to sign (optional but highly recommended). One was time capsule letter for when our child becomes 18 years old. When he became of age, he would open the letters of people who wrote to him at the baby shower. He would know that people love him.
You never know if any of the letter could be from someone who passed away and could not be present to this day, but still have something to remember that person to cherish by. The second paper was “what did mommy and daddy say?” People would write their beliefs on what our kids would inherit with what. We designed this to be comedic. Final thing is to write a short note in kid book.
